Katherine Schulhaus

Kate Schulhaus is a manager of capital & venture development – health sciences in the Keenan Center. In this role, she leads the Accelerator Awards, a translational research program to develop University IP that funds technical de-risking milestones relevant to the market. Kate manages the health sciences vertical for the Keenan Center venture development group and is responsible for evaluating early-stage health science technologies, and works closely with Ohio State innovators, entrepreneurs, and investors to facilitate the creation of new ventures to accelerate the translation of scientific innovations into products for the benefit of society.

Prior to joining Ohio State in 2017, Kate completed her doctoral research work in the Department of Pathology at Northwestern University characterizing how a novel protein kinase contributes to breast cancer cell migration and metastasis. She has more than 10 years of experience in academic cancer research focused in the areas of breast and ovarian cancer molecular biology. Kate also worked as a scientific consultant performing business development activities at a life science startup company, HappiLabs LLC from 2013 through 2015.

Kate earned her PhD in Biomedical Sciences with a specialization in Cancer Biology from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Minnesota.
