Build What Matters
BuildX empowers student founders to turn promising ideas into scalable, investable startups. Through execution-focused courses, a dedicated space for builders, a $1 million BuildX Fund, direct access to experienced founders, operators and investors, and a culminating BuildX Demo Day, the initiative accelerates ventures from early-stage ideas to meaningful outcomes.
BuildX advances a bold university goal: 100 investable student startups annually by 2030 – strengthening Ohio’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and preparing Buckeyes to build what matters and lead what comes next.
“BuildX will further establish Ohio State as a haven for student entrepreneurs – a place where innovators can turn big, bold ideas into new businesses and products with real-world impact. As we have always done, Buckeyes won’t wait for the future – we’ll build it.”

BuildX Accelerator
Each summer, Ohio State will select a cohort of its most promising student-led startups for the BuildX Accelerator. Teams spend the summer building together in Columbus, receiving funding, dedicated workspace, and intensive support from experienced founders, operators, and investors.
Selected teams receive:
- $10,000 stipend
- $5,000 SAFE investment option
- Dedicated coaching and access to industry experts
- Office hours with investors and ecosystem partners
- In-kind services and resources
Throughout the accelerator, founders work toward the milestones that matter most for their companies – from reaching customers and gaining traction to strengthening their teams and developing as leaders.
The summer culminates in BuildX Demo Day, where teams present their progress to investors and supporters.
BuildX support continues beyond the accelerator. Founders remain connected to Ohio State’s growing network of mentors, alumni, investors, and fellow builders as they continue to grow their companies.
Applications open October 1 and are reviewed on a rolling basis.
