Organizations can deliver an internship to students as in-person, remote, or hybrid. Organizations should detail the mode of delivery on the position description.
Wheeler and Wolstein Internship Program Frequently Asked Questions
As part of the scholarship criteria, there cannot be a weekly or monthly hourly requirement for student interns. All internships need to be structured as a "project" based internship around the completion of projects and tasks over summer term. It is recommended organizations set expectations regarding estimated time projects and tasks might take students to complete over the summer. Organizations and students can build flexible start and end date from May-August.
There is no financial cost to participating organizations. Interns are provided a $7,000 scholarship intended to cover a living stipend over the summer term (May-August).
The internship position description should include:
- Overview of organization/company
- Broad overview of position projects and responsibilities
- Accepting applications from undergraduate, graduate or both student classifications
- Work environment or mode of deliver (ex.in-person, remote, or hybrid)
- Timeline of the Internship (ex. ideal start and end date)
- Links to organization website and other relevant materials
Organizations are limited to one intern from the Wheeler and Wolstein Internship Program per summer.
Placement of a student intern is not guaranteed. The Keenan Center provides organizations the student applications/resumes that indicate interest in the organization’s internship. The organization reviews resumes and selects student(s) to move forward in the recruitment process. If the organization extends an offer and student accepts, the organization contacts Lauryn Betterton to review scholarship availability. Scholarships to matched organizations and student interns are awarded first-come, first-serve basis.
The internships provide funding to students in different academic classifications. The Wheeler Internship provides funding for MBA or graduate students. The Wolstein Internship provides funding for undergraduate students. Organizations can recruit students in either or both academic classifications.
